Weekend Sail to Perth

A party of ten old hands and new recruits had an excellent trip to Perth and back this weekend, enjoying the hospitality of Perth Sailing and Coastal Rowing Club on Saturday night.
Good progress was made at the start with an easterly wind, followed by some interesting gusty breezes as we neared our destination. Sunday was more sunny than windy but after an initial tow from the safety boat we drifted back towards the bridges, where we picked up a helpful westerly to get us home.
The cruise to Perth is a lovely way to get to know the river and its inhabitants, we saw seals and the nesting pair of Ospreys near Newburgh. Thanks to everyone who made the trip possible.
Meanwhile the rowers were busy with prospective members out for taster sessions on Saturday and a family-friendly outing on Sunday, enabling some keen youngsters to experience the fun of skiff rowing on the Tay.
New rowers and sailors are always welcome - we provide boats, safety equipment and training!
